Abstract
This offering is a meditation on existing and thriving in the wake of civilization. For centuries, we have educated one another to believe in, and glorify, the insatiable desires of our modern way of life. I begin with the premise that what we call “civilization” is a system predicated on death, violence, and exploitation, because it requires the endless extraction and consumption of the living Earth. Living in this way guts the Earth to feed our ideas of “progress” and “prosperity.” The effect now is that our civilization, our society, our way of life is rotting—bringing with it decay and devastation. Rather than lament the end of civilization, I invite readers to dance in its wake. Finally, I offer a way to move beyond the clutches of modernity by choosing to move with the ancient rhythms of the Earth. Ultimately, this track is an invitation to find joy in the midst of what is to come, and to dance, knowing that our existence is moving with the sacred vibrations of deep time.
