Abstract
Quiet quitting is a phenomenon that has swept the globe as result of burnout and apathy in the work environment. The result of deeper issues causes some employees to disengage in the professional environment. After reflection, there was a personal realization that quiet quitting was not my issue, but instead I was tired of the juggling act required for maintaining a healthy work-life balance in academia. Three practical approaches to implement when explicitly and intentionally dealing with the challenge of work-life balance in academia, particularly as a Black woman are (1) learning to say no, (2) establishing healthy boundaries, and (3) engaging in enjoyable work. Recognizing the need for healthy work-life balance begins with reflection and honest self-assessment.
