Abstract
Setlist is a collection of stories centered around belonging and understanding. The protagonists in these stories grapple with their identities, whether they’re defying the standards placed upon them by society, or the standards they have placed on themselves. Sometimes these standards are worth overcoming; other times the best option is to just let things be and hope for the best. Regardless, each story is a journey, whether through one’s sexual discovery, one’s loss of status and power (even when there was not much to begin with), or one’s confrontation with the truth about a dystopian landscape. Each character attempts to wrestle with concepts as parenthood, gay male identity, mortality, and scientific advancements. Sometimes the barrier between real and fantasy is a blurry one indeed.
