Abstract

Cuba and the U.S. have different health care systems but similar health outcomes. In 2015 U.S. and Cuba had the same stillbirth rate. Cuba is a prevention-based system that is free for all, while the U.S. is a treatment-based system that uses a fee for service system. Cuba has ratified international laws that hold it accountable for improving health outcomes especially for women and children. The U.S. can learn from Cuba when it comes to improving health outcomes. The U.S. can improve their health outcomes by including more preventative based interventions and ratifying international law that will hold the U.S. accountable for improving health outcomes for their citizens.
