Abstract

This project reviews relevant literature and offers specific ways for teachers to use communicative practices in the English classroom. Based on Communicative Language Learning, this project uses many authentic materials, like videos, speaking activities, which could help develop students’ oral proficiencies. The discussion activities and partner speaking practices are based on cooperative learning theory. The project uses multimedia to supplement language instructions and language learning. In addition, the project integrates Internet technology with authentic teaching practices to enhance students’ learning experiences.

When teachers use this project in their classroom, their students have the opportunities to learn more vocabulary and discuss what they have learned with their partners. The materials are connected to students’ real life, so students may be able to use the vocabulary and expressions in their real life. Teachers are encouraged to adapt the vocabulary exercises, speaking exercises and other activities based on students’ needs in their class.
