Abstract
What could possibly make teens care about contemporary art? In a life busy with sports and school activities, social interaction, and digital engagement, a museum seems like the last place they would have on their mind. The SFMOMA PopUp program, an educational program run through the San Francisco Museum of Art (SFMOMA}, aims to answer this question. The program will take the museum's focus on art education and public art directly to Bay Area's schools and neighborhoods with the intention of nurturing a love of art and civic pride in Bay Area youth. The SFMOMA PopUp connects local artists with teens in underserved public schools, so that they can engage in the process of art and design and collaboratively create a public artwork.
