Abstract
With a stagnant economy and significantly decreased government funding, nonprofit organizations are looking towards their development teams to raise more funds and expand their gift options in order to financially sustain their institution. When devising a museum's fundraising strategy, outright cash gifts are typically the priority. Planned giving, or gift received after the donor passes, are often after-thoughts as the gift does not provide an immediate source of income. Likewise, smaller organizations tend to shy away from exploring a planned giving program as it seems too complex and costly to execute. 111is project aims to provide small to medium sized nonprofit organizations with reliable research to exemplify why creating a planned giving program is a valuable endeavor and how to successfully implement a program with bay.org as a case study.
