Abstract
This literature review and project proposal addresses the urgent need for standardized language in vaccine communication. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted significant disparities in understanding vaccine-related terms due to social determinants of health (SDH). Public health practitioners and the lay populations often interpret terms like "herd immunity" and "fully vaccinated" differently, leading to communication challenges and lower vaccination rates. This project proposes creating a universal vaccine lexicon to bridge these gaps, improve public health literacy, and enhance vaccine uptake. This paper outlines the methodology for developing this lexicon, emphasizing the importance of a common language to facilitate effective communication and trust in public health initiatives.
