Abstract
Museums must not only invest time and resources into growing their digital presence but also keep up with newer technologies available, such as affordable and readily available drone technology. If museums fail to take advantage of relatively simple tools such as off-the-shelf drones, they risk losing opportunities to educate audiences as well as forfeit interpretation to tourists and other hobbyists who may not understand the full historical significance or context of the sites they are virtually sharing on platforms such as YouTube. In some cases, museums risk there being no interpretation at all. Through research and an action plan, the project presented in this capstone makes a case for the need for museums to utilize drone technology to improve accessibility to cultural heritage sites, and provides a framework for doing so.
