Research Abstract
How does a parent’s mental illness affect their children later on in life? By listening to six heartfelt and emotional stories told by women whose parent have had a mental illness, undergraduate Communication Studies major, Gloria Ruiz, aimed to answer this exact question. In this talk learn about three themes that were consistently found throughout many of the women’s stories and how their own experiences with parental mental illness has now shaped so much of who they are – even in adulthood.
